The City of Sin, Las Vegas

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, so everyone says. An oasis in the desert of Nevada, it is an adult play land of casinos, strip clubs, and neon lights. Las Vegas boasts an amazing 41 million yearly visitors and is home to 17 of the largest hotel in the United States. There is a wealth of entertainment to do, and it doesn’t just involve gambling.

When you’re packing your bags to visit Sin City there are a few must-haves. Sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and a light jacket or sweater. Yes it’s the desert, but it does get cold at night, even during the summer. I’ve learned my lesson on that after living in Phoenix many years ago. Plan to do a lot of walking if you are going to explore the strip. The casinos are massive, and no one is going to want to call in an early night because your toes are being pinched.

If gambling is not your thing, there are still plenty of great things to do. They have a mob museum, tours of the Grand Canyon and Red Rocks, amazing places to eat, and my personal favorite, people watching. Many places offer shuttle and food service to visit the Grand Canyon and Red Rocks, so you don’t even have to deal with a car rental. If you do want to gamble, there is no shortage of places to go. The airport, and many gas stations offer slot machines you’re feeling the itch to lose a little or a lot of money. The hotels are each decorated in different themes, and are wall to wall attractions and gambling areas. If you bring young children with you, you should know there are curfew laws, and gambling is limited to those over the age of 21.

Our visit was short so we stayed on the strip, our three days were jam-packed with sightseeing, and it is one of the few places were we were not ready to head home, and have plans to visit again in the future. If you want to see more pictures head on over to my Flickr page, as I will be adding tons more photos in the days to follow. I shot over 200 pictures and am in the process of sorting through them all. A lot of these photos will also be for sale on my Zazzle page, so check that out as well.

Next week will be some random shots from all over Tennessee.
